Special ECI Windows driver (version 1.06 and 1.12) for Ericsson hm120dp USB modem

Introduction

Some people using the Ericsson hm120dp USB modem need to make their own synchronization file themselves. However, to do so, they need to make a USB log file using the same Windows driver as the one used for the developpment of the Linux driver, that is "ECI Windows driver version 1.06". However, this driver only works for ECI HiFocus modem, not for Ericsson hm120dp.

To solve this problem, there are two ways:

Change the USB Identifier inside the modem to looks like an ECI modem. This is quick and easy (using eci-eeprom), but of course, it voids the warranty for your modem and your usual Windows driver will not work anymore.
Change the original ECI Windows driver a bit, so that it will happilly recognize the Ericsson hm120dp USB modem. We choose this latest way in the rest of this text.

You need the ECI Windows driver version 1.06, however the ECI Windows driver version 1.12 may also be usefull for science.

Installation

To properly install this driver, you need to follow those steps:

Disconnect from the Internet
Unplug your ADSL modem
Uninstall your current modem driver
When asked, Reboot your computer
Start installing the new driver
When asked, plug in your ADSL modem
